Unfortunately i had a hell of a problem with this product.Crashed my pc(Hp Pavilion dv5-1125 64 Bit os)on several occassions.Saw this when i ran Diagnosis.Made a complaint and got a new one to replace.Sent my machine crashing once more! I simply put it away.Money lost, but saves me the pain and frustration.Using AverMedia usb hybrid tuner(also purchased from Amazon.com) with no problems atall!Very good Customer Services by Amazon and Hp anyway.

I shopped around many places to find myself the HP TV tuner. I found it cheapest here on amazon, and I was pleased with the product once I got it. However, it does not come with a cable cord and unless you have wireless cable in your house (I don’t have that and I don’t know how to get that) then you will have to buy one, which runs at about $10.
After I bought that cable, I hooked up the tv tuner by connecting the cable directly to the TV tuner. I now can watch TV directly on my laptop and it is good. The quality is not HD, as I expected it to be, but it is good.
There are a couple of minor problems with it, but they are really more like annoyances than problems. Firstly, the USB TV tuner doesn’t stay in the USB port very well. It wouldn’t be a problem except I like to sit with my laptop on my lap and when ever I move, it starts to come out. Secondly, the channels don’t label. You know, FOX USA DISNEY CHANNEL, that stuff does not show up, just the channel number which is annoying because I just moved and don’t have the channels memorized yet.
But other than those few minor problems I would reccomend this product.

If you’re using Vista as an OS, skip the rest and BUY this ONE!!! I have an HP laptop and this installed and integrated effortlessly. I struggled with another manufacturer’s version of this device and absolutely could not get the driver installed. I returned that one and purchased this. I highly recommend this tuner!

I bought this tuner as a replacement for a Hauppauge HVR-850. To my surprise, it turns out that aside from the packaging and pretty labels on the stick, they’re both pretty much identical. Right down to the cap’s color. I’m certain both come from the same manufacturers. The issues I have with this and the Hauppauge tuners are two: relatively low audio and somewhat low video quality; slow channel switching.
I’m thinking PCI interface tuners might be a better way to go. Those tend to rely more on hardware signal processing from what I understand.
On the plus side, this one does include a Media Center ready remote.
