Computer processors or CPUs have been around since the 1960s and have changed a lot since that time. Thanks to the advent of transistors and semi-conductor technologies processors have rapidly become smaller and smaller.
Within the processor are many functions that result in faster processing of commands some of which will be talked about here. The main properties of CPUs are the clock speed, the cache, the socket, the computer bus and the type of cooling attached to the CPU.
The bus determines how quickly the CPU is able to communicate with the other components within the PC, you can think of it as an actual bus transporting the commands to and from the processor. The faster the bus can go the faster the commands get to their destination.
