Many individuals today are turning to green cleaning. This makes sense from an environmental and health perspective, especially if you have a baby or a pet on the floor. It is easy to find a green cleaning product, but does it really disinfect or sterilize?
There are various cleaners which are “green” but do not disinfect. You sweep or vacuum your floors, then use vinegar and water or water alone. Vinegar smells awful as a cleanser and there is very little sterilization from it.
Now consider a floor steamer. They use water, so they definitely are green. However, if they are not properly made they can leave a lot of water on the floor or just be heavy or clumsy to use. I have owned one, since I lived in a home with a large expanse of white tile floors.
My floors were squeaky clean when I was through, but it was a lot of work to dry them with a towel. As well, my back ached, because the unit was designed for multiple uses, not just floors, so I had to bend over to use it. Read more...
